THIRD
SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION
SPACE, ECOLOGY,
NANOTECHNOLOGIES, SAFETY
SENS’2007
On 27-29
June 2007, at the Recreation House of
the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Third Scientific Conference with
International Participation ñå
ïðîâåäå Òðåòàòà íàó÷íà êîíôåðåíöèÿ ñ ìåæäóíàðîäíî ó÷àñòèå SPACE, ECOLOGY, NANOTECHNOLOGIES, SAFETY (SENS 2007) took place. It was organized by the Space Research Institute (SRI) of the Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences (BAS) and the Bulgarian Astronautical Association (BAD) (ÁÀÄ). Over 3 days, more than 130 scientific reports were
delivered, distributed in 9 sessions: Space Physics and astronomy, Aerospace Engineering and Technologies, Remote Sensing and
Geoinformation Systems, Ecology and Risk Management, Space Materials Science and Nanotechnologies, Space Biology and Medicine, Space and Warfare, Space Education, and BalkanSat Small Satellite.
At the opening of
the Scientific Conference, welcome addresses were delivered on behalf of the
President of the BAS, Acad. Ivan Yuhnovski, the Space Research Institute and the Institute of
Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the European Commission, the Technical University in
Sofia and more.
The participants
in the Conference represented a number of BAS institutes, civil and military higher
academic establishments, administrative research institutes, State and private companies. The youngest researchers – post-graduate students from
the BAS and higher academic establishments, made a good presentation, too.
Foreign
participation was very good – authors or co-authors of the filed reports from 20 countries could be
found on the agenda: Azerbaijan,
Great
Britain, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine etc. For the first time, there were participants from USA, Egypt, Israel,
Sweden, Norway, Croatia,
and Slovenia.
The abstracts of
the scientific reports were published in a Book of Abstracts SENS’2007. The publication of
the reports’ full texts is underway.
During the
Conference, an artistic exhibition was organized entitled «Palm Sunday» with works of Sen. Res. Petar
Stoyanov, researcher from the SRI-BAS.
We are glad to
report on the successful performance of SENS’2007 marked by the enhanced prestige of the
Conference, the higher level
of the participants and their works, the greater number of foreign participants. We would like to pay our acknowledgment to the
Organization Committee in the face of its Honoured Chairman, Acad. Nikola
Sabotinov, Vice-President of the BAS, its Chairman, Prof. Petar Getsov, Director of the Space Research
Institute of the BAS, and all other
organizers and participants.
The Fourth
Scientific Conference with International Participation SPACE, ECOLOGY, NANOTECHNOLOGIES, SAFETY (SENS 2008) will take place
in June 2008.
