PHYSICS OF SPACE

SPACE CLIMATE

The department includes seven scientists from STRI-BAS. The team has more than twenty-five years of experience in satellite experiments and statistical study of the whole chain of influences from the Sun through the solar wind, magnetosphere, ionosphere and atmosphere to the geomagnetic activity, terrestrial climate and seismology.

Currently the team performs scientific analysis of existing and new data, space-borne and ground-based, in the area of solar dynamics, solar and interplanetary magnetic fields and global change.

Team members are also involved in the experiment Langmuir probe, which is a part of the Plasma-Wave Complex "OBSTANOVKA" ("ENVIRONMENT") onboard the International Space Station aimed to provide a database of electromagnetic fields and plasma-wave processes in the vicinity of large space objects (satellites and space stations).
